Humbling experience . . .

Updated: Nov 21, 2022

What a privilege to visit Lilla, a remote indigenous community located in central Australia, about 30 minutes drive from Kings Canyon in the Northern Territory.

I had an opportunity via the Have a Ball Foundation to deliver some footballs to some of the local children, as well as learn about their country and history from traditional owner Sadie. It was truly amazing to hear about their stories of the past, see first hand where the women used to give birth and where they undertook their various ceremonies and rituals.

The Have a Ball Foundation does amazing work in helping donate and deliver thousands of sporting goods to very remote indigenous communities across central Australia. Simple things like a football, new pair of shoes, hairbrush that we all take for granted, are very special to the children in these remote communities.

If you ever get the opportunity visit central Australia, take the time to really immerse yourself in our indigenous history and culture.
